Hello from Canada,
I’m reaching out as the Director of the Psychology Graduate Program at Trent University (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) with a potential opportunity for a couple of graduate students to join our program here to study human sexuality/LGBTQ+. I understand that there may be some American graduate students concerned about the viability of sexuality/LGBTQ+ programs moving forward, their funding, or where to apply to study sexuality given the US situation right now. As your friend to the North and a research ally in the field, I thought this might be one small way to help.
My graduate program has a couple of IGS (International Graduate Scholarships) available for an incoming (international) student or two that would reduce their international fees to domestic fees. The IGS is awarded for the duration of their graduate program (2 years for a MSc and 4 for a PhD). This scholarship is in addition to the standard funding package. We have been unable to award the IGSs from our department as of yet and would prefer not to give them back to the university or to a different department.
Our Psychology department has three faculty who study in the field of sexuality, sexual health, LGBTQ+ health and a couple others who are adjacent (i.e., intimate relationships, adult attachment styles). The graduate program overall has about 35-40 students including a new-ish PhD program that is still growing.
If you are a potential graduate student still searching for a graduate home to conduct your sexuality research, please talk to me about this opportunity. Much appreciated.
The deadline for applications to our Psychology graduate program is July 01 of this year for Fall 2025 start.
