Pamela Madsen, MS, CSB
Pamela Madsen is a nationally recognized authority on sexual wellness, reproductive education, and somatic healing. Her decades-long career spans legislative advocacy, scientific research, and somatic education—all grounded in a consistent mission: to bring dignity, evidence, and healing to areas of human experience too often marked by shame or neglect.
She began her public work as the Founder and first Executive Director of The American Fertility Association. In this role, Pamela provided critical education, emotional support, and advocacy for fertility patients. Her testimony before the United States Congress and the Food and Drug Administration helped shape national dialogue around reproductive rights. She played a key role in the passage of state legislation in both New York and New Jersey that mandates insurance coverage for infertility treatments. Her research on the biological clock and reproductive aging was published in the esteemed journal Fertility and Sterility, contributing to a broader clinical and societal understanding of fertility timelines.
Pamela later founded Back to the Body™: Sensuous Retreats for Women, where she developed the Back to the Body Method™, a unique framework integrating somatic presencing, trauma-informed practice, and guided personal exploration. These retreats are rooted in ethical rigor and psychological safety, offering women the opportunity to reconnect with their bodies, desires, and sense of self-worth in a confidential and supported environment.
Her work is not only transformative but also empirically validated. A peer-reviewed study published in Sexual and Relationship Therapy showed statistically significant improvements in body image, sexual self-esteem, genital self-image, and sexual satisfaction among retreat participants. These outcomes confirm what Pamela has long observed: that intentional, embodied attention—held in a framework of safety and respect—can lead to profound personal healing and growth.
Beyond her public persona, Pamela has been married for over forty years to her high school sweetheart, whom she met at age seventeen. Together they have raised two grown sons who now live in Los Angeles. Her family life is foundational to her values and fuels her ongoing dedication to healing work that honors wholeness, authenticity, and integrity.
Pamela’s voice and vision have been featured in Oprah, 60 Minutes, CNN, The New York Times, O Magazine, Vogue, and more. She is also the author of Shameless: How I Ditched the Diet, Got Naked, Found True Pleasure and Still Got Home in Time to Cook Dinner.
At every stage of her career—whether lobbying for public policy, educating clients, or holding space for profound personal transformation—Pamela Madsen has stood for embodied healing, courageous advocacy, and the full inclusion of sexual wellness in the definition of human health.
