Summer Institute on Sexuality, Society and Health, June 18 to July 25, 2001

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

The Human Sexuality Studies Program and the Institute on Sexuality, Inequality and Health are pleased to announce the first annual Summer Institute on Sexuality, Society and Health which will be held at San Francisco State University from June 18 to July 15, 2001.

The Summer Institute is open to undergraduates, graduate and postgraduate students, and professionals from all fields, including teachers, sex educators, health and mental health providers and community service providers from throughout the United States and other countries. The program includes special courses on sexual culture, sexuality, inequality, and health, a practitioner research training program, special lectures and events and networking opportunities with leading scholars, researchers and health care providers. Faculty include: Tomas Almaguer, Rafael Diaz, Gilbert Herdt, Gregory Herek, Linda Mona, Richard Parker, Gayle Rubin, and Caitlin Ryan, among others. Participants may enroll for 6 semester units; CEUs and CMEs are pending. Housing is available on campus or by individual arrangement off-campus. Participants must register by May 1, 2001. A limited number of scholarships are available for eligible low income students and practitioners.
