ABOUT THE MEETING
Increasingly over the past decade, the term “sexual health” has been used by researchers, educators, and other community-based providers to describe diverse work that seeks to respond to the health issues associated with sexual behavior.
However, we continue to be challenged to simultaneously respond to the health-related outcomes associated with sex while ensuring that we as a field remain committed to the unbiased study of sexuality. What are the boundaries of sexual health?
How do we balance sexual pleasure, orgasm, and desire with sexual risk-taking and sexual dysfunction? Can we agree upon a definition of sexual health that will be mutually acceptable to governments, researchers, practitioners, educators, religious leaders, and others across diverse communities?
What better place to discuss and debate these issues than on the campus of Indiana University, known for its commitment to sex research for over 60 years. Although submissions from all areas of the
scientific study of sexuality are welcomed, we are especially interested in submissions from those in diverse disciplines focused on new and innovative conceptualizations of the intersections between
sexuality and sexual health.
Special events will include:
The opening reception of The Kinsey Institute’s 2012 Juried Erotic Art Show
A night of historical erotic films from deep in the archives of The Kinsey Institute
A spring weekend on one of the most beautiful university campuses in the U.S.
